Monday, August 29th and September 26th, 2016. The Five Minute Talks, Rehearsal Sessions:

Sixteen IPN McGill students presented their preliminary talks in front a panel of external critics. The activity was followed by questions and discussion.

 

Wednesday, October 12th, 2016. The Five Minute Talks:

Sixteen IPN McGill students present their five minute talks to 30 FOFA students and 5 FOFA academics. The activity was followed by questions and discussion.
 

Friday, November 25th, 2016. Convergence neuroscience event, The Black Box:

1. Open Labs for art students. A guided visit on 5 labs of the Centre for Research on Neuroscience (CRN) to explain and show the places where the research on neuroscience is performed.

2. The Black Box talk. Two students from the IPN program expose in two talks the basic principles on which the brain works. The talk is public, 126 assistants. Followed by questions and discussion

3. Social. Neuroscience students and academics from the BRaIN Program, RI-MUHC, IPN Program, and McGill share a social event with artists and academics of FOFA.

 

Sunday, December 11th, 2016. Convergence arts event, The White Box:

Convergence neuroscience students explore the contemporary art scene of Montreal. Visits to the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal (MAC), SBC Gallery, and the Visual Voice Gallery.

 

Friday, January 13th, 2017. Launch of Concordia Faculty of Fine Arts (FOFA) course dart461 3-credits

Introductory lectures:

1. FOFA Course introduction. Meet, greet & dialogue to form preliminary teams

2. “Neuro representations, Convergence, Clash, Confusion“ 60 min Najmeh Khalili-Mahani Ph.D. (Neuroscientist). “Interested in Intersections: Collision, Collaboration, and Creation between Art and the Sciences” 20 min Swintak Christine, Invited artist. “in different terminologies transmit ex.change and co.creation”  20 min Professor pk langshaw

Workshop offered by Ms. Valérie Harvey, Communications Coordinator of the MUHC. (3 hours)

 

Friday, January 20th and 27th, 2017. dart461 FOFA The Art Five Minute Talks:

FOFA Students present 14 students x 5 min = 70 min + 20 min break = 90 minutes. Group discussion, email exchanging, mentors assigned.

  

Friday, February 10th, 2017. dart461 FOFA Proof of Concepts:

Groups Neuroscientists-Artists (17) presented their progress reports.

 

Friday, February 17th, 2017. Convergence Neuroscience Event, Sensory:

1. The Sensory talk. Two students from the IPN program expose in two talks the basic principles on which the sensory system works. The talk is public, 54 assistants. Followed by questions and discussion.

2. Open Labs for art students. A guided visit on 3 labs of the Vision Group at the MGH to explain and show the places where the research on neuroscience is performed.

3. Social. Neuroscience students and academics from the BRaIN Program, RI-MUHC, IPN Program, and McGill share a social event with artists and academics of FOFA.

 

Friday, March 3rd and March 24th, 2017. dart461 FOFA Critiques:

Initial presentation and critique. Midterm process presentation and critique with an invited audience.

 

Friday, April 7th, 2017. FOFA Convergence Art Event "Brainwaves"

1. Open Studios for neuroscience students. A guided visit on FOFA studios to explain and show the places where the art practice is performed.

2. Brainwaves talk. One main talk and a discussion panel with four art students from FOFA exposing some thoughts on art-neuroscience collaborations. The talk was public (120 assistants) and was followed by questions and discussion

3. Social. Art students from FOFA share a social event with neuroscience students and academics from the BRaIN Program, RI-MUHC, IPN Program, and McGill University.

 

Thursday, April 13th, 2017. dart461 FOFA Final Critique and Selection:

Project presentations and display for a final critique and jury selection of works for the exhibition – Rebecca Duclos, David Ross, Bettina Forget, Francois Morelli + TBA.

 

Saturday, April 22nd to May 20th, 2017. First Two Convergence Exhibition, material and dynamic: 

Exhibition of works produced by FOFA students in collaboration with IPN McGill neuroscience partners as part of the Convergence project.

Venue: Visual Voice Gallery:  Belgo Building. 372 Ste-Catherine Street West space 421

Assistance: More than 650 people in the effective 19 days that the exhibition last.

 

Saturday, May 27th to 31st, 2017. Second Convergence Exhibition:

May 27th Convergence Exhibition and short presentation at la Bibliothèque et Archives Nationales du Québec (BAnQ), more than 300 hundred assistants.

May 28th to 31st FOFA-Convergence Exhibition at 11th Canadian Association for Neuroscience Annual Meeting. Hotel Bonaventure. Closing.
