SINAPSIS, The Convergence Initiative and the Centre de Recherche en Éthique are pleased to invite you to the first scientific-café of our cycle Art, Neuroscience and Wellbeing! Our Scientific Cafés aim to host open dialogues between artists, philosophers and neuroscientists on the links between art and neuroscience. This first event will center on Neuroaesthetics -a relatively novel field that aims to bridge Art and Science through investigating the biological basis of artistic experience- and the neuroscience of creativity. Our panellists will present three different perspectives on these topics: Patricia Osler, artist and art educator, will speak about her research in artistic thinking strategies and her interest in the neuroscience of creativity; Karim Jerbi, a researcher in cognitive neuroimaging, will speak about how neuroscientific methods inform us about artistic processes and David Davies, philosopher of art, will share his perspective about whether research on cognitive neuroscience can answer philosophical questions about the arts. We hope to share with you cutting-edge scientific knowledge while reinforcing interdisciplinary exchanges and supporting the role that arts and humanities play in our society, an essential endeavour in a time where they seem to lose importance in the face to new technological developments. Join us to engage in the dialogue and learn a little more about the links between art, philosophy and neuroscience in a relaxed setting!

SINAPSIS, L’Initiative Convergence et le Centre de Recherche en Éthique sont heureux de vous inviter au premier café-scientifique de notre cycle Art, Neurosciences et Bien-être! Nos Cafés Scientifiques visent à accueillir des dialogues ouverts entre artistes, philosophes et neuroscientifiques sur les liens entre l'art et les neurosciences. Ce premier événement portera sur le thème de la neuro-esthétique - un domaine relativement nouveau qui vise à relier l'art et la science en étudiant les bases biologiques de l'expérience artistique - et la neuroscience de la créativité. Nos panélistes présenteront trois perspectives sur ces sujets: Patricia Osler, artiste et éducatrice en art, parlera de ses recherches sur les stratégies de pensée artistique et de son intérêt pour les neurosciences de la créativité; Karim Jerbi, chercheur en neuroimagerie cognitive, nous parlera sur comment les méthodes de la neuroscience peuvent nous informer sur les processus artistiques et David Davies, philosophe de l'art, partagera son point de vue sur la question de savoir si la recherche sur les neurosciences cognitives peut répondre à des questions philosophiques sur les arts. Nous espérons partager avec vous des connaissances scientifiques de pointe tout en renforçant les échanges interdisciplinaires et en soutenant le rôle que jouent les arts et les sciences humaines dans notre société, un effort essentiel à une époque où ils semblent perdre de l'importance face aux nouveaux développements technologiques. Rejoignez-nous pour engager le dialogue et apprendre un peu plus sur les liens entre art, philosophie et neurosciences dans une ambiance décontractée!
